Home Sweet Home

Chad and the group made it back! They got back into Midland about 1:15am. They were all pretty tired when they got home. I think they were up for almost 22 hours yesterday.
He got to come home to our nice decorated house with no water. We had a leak that I found Sunday morning. I couldn't get anyone to fix it Sunday afternoon so Chad got to come home to a house with no water. Fun times!
I decided that a water leak would be the best way to welcome Chad home from a foreign country....don't you think?
It's fixed though now.....we are very grateful for water!

Servant Life

I got an email on Friday night from Chad and he said they had made it to Ecaudor. I found a blog that Student Life has set up for the teams that they have out. If you go to studentlife.com then click on Servant Life. Once that site has come up click on Ecaudor in the middle of the screen. So far there are two postings from CJ about the group. I don't think I will hear anything till Saturday or Sunday from Chad but I know they are updating the blog at Servant Life daily. At least, I think they are trying to do that daily. Just thought some might want to see what is going on and how you can pray specifically for them.
As for me...Chad and Heather came in this weekend. We hung out and celebrated my brothers 27th birthday Sunday. I got the bathroom painted. It looks good!
The bad news is in ONE month school starts!
The exciting news is 4 more days of class and 6 more days till Chad comes home!

Passport....

Good news! Chad actually got his passport in. The Post Office called once they had found it and he went and picked it up. So, he really is leaving tomorrow. He'll be gone for 10 days. They are working with Student Life in Ecuador. 20 students are going and I think 5 adults. Pray for their travel, safety, and that the children they work with see the hope that our team has. I believe God is going to do some huge things in, around, through the students and adults that are going!

El Casa

So I got a few pictures of our house. Still nothing yet on the walls, bathroom not painted, garage door opener not installed yet, but we have a kitchen in order.
Here are a few of the house!

This is the texture that I did in the kitchen with the glaze on it.......it looks pretty cool in real life!

After I paint the bathroom this weekend and hang some stuff on the walls I'll put some more on here!

Hungry?

This is the no lie this is the third time I have tried to upload pictures and even add a new post. I have either been distracted or just straight up messed up. So hopefully this will work this time.
We are in the house now. I have had some issues with finding things. But honestly I'm ok with looking for them. Either Mom or Heather put up something that I have been looking for and I have a hard time finding it. But if I knew where everything was that would mean that I put everything up and I would still be working on that part. But I am shocked as to how in order our house really is.
My next thing is to paint the guest bathroom. Judy (Chad's mom) isn't coming. Chad booked her flight for her and did it backwards. So, the plan is for her to come in August sometime. Hopefully, I'll get the bathroom done by this weekend.
I start my classes again tomorrow. Really not too excited. I get confused when I think about this summer, because I really haven't had a summer. I have been in class 8-5pm all of June and now I start again! Not my idea of a fun summer. But I know this is the best time to do this. So....I'm trying to get through it.
We had some college kids over last night for dinner. I got everything out and then left and made a Hobby Lobby run. I went to the real store unlike John Randles....inside joke but some will understand. So I bought some decorations I have been checking out for sometime now. They were 50% off so I just bought them.
Anyways......yesterday afternoon I made some pies for dinner tonight! And they were good! So......for those of you who doubted that I could cook....YOU'RE WRONG! I can! And I have proof!

We're in

All day Friday Chad and I moved the little stuff. Basically that means, everything that we could carry by ourselves. By the time we were finished the only thing left in the apartment was the furniture. We got all the little stuff done about 9pm on Friday. My brother and his wife got into town and they helped us with the last load. Once we got the house Mom and Donnie showed up. We unloaded the last part and then went to eat.
Saturday Brandon, Micah, Nathan, and Matt helped moved the furniture. They got it loaded and unloaded in an hour and a half. I thought they would be done fast but not that fast. We got all that moved in. Mom and Heather (sister-in-law) put up the kitchen. Donnie was working in the bathrooms. Once all the big stuff got here, we put things back in order. Beds got put together, shower curtains got hung and clothes got put up.
We worked late Saturday night and our house is pretty much in order. However, there is nothing on the walls and I just now got one of the bathrooms textured.
Judy (Chad's mom) was suppose to come this weekend, but when Chad booked her flight he did it backwards. So.....she is not going to come this weekend. They plan on coming out in August sometime.
So hopefully we'll get the bathroom painted, decorations up and maybe even actually have food that we can eat! And maybe this weekend I'll get some pictures up of the house!

BIG move IN weekend

This weekend we are going to be tired and worn out. We are moving out of the apartment and moving into the new house! We have to be out of our apartment by Sunday.
The plan is to move the "little things" tomorrow. Basically, move everything that isn't heavy and that won't require too much effort for me! My parents, brother and sister-in-law, and some college guys are going to be helping us.
Chad got back on Tuesday evening and we worked all day Wednesday. He got off a little early today and we got the house cleaned and ready to be moved into.
We have finished the living room and kitchen. Next we will move on to the bathrooms and our room. It is a PROCESS! I have to constantly remind myself that. But, we are making progress. I can't wait to get the house all homey.
If you need something to do this weekend or next week, call or just come by and we will be able to find something for you to do!
I'll put pictures on here when we get to that point. Right now, the house is empty and clean. Ready to be be moved into.

Colors in the HoUsE!!!!!!

I actually took pictures today after I primed a wall in the entry way.
Here's the color in living room and entry way...

If you can see well, that is the kind of texture that I did in the kitchen. I have primed it, now it is waiting for Chad to come home and paint it!

Here is the color that will be in the kitchen. It will be the darker color. But....does it look ok next to the green color? Give me your opinion and let me know if the 2 colors look ok. Or should I try and do a lighter color.

Here's the rug that we are going to buy. It will be in the living room and we'll pull those colors through the kitchen.

Let me know what you think.
Thanks Emily for reminding me to take pictures! Now you have to come help paint....or just come to Texas!

Painting....

I have spent this weekend painting! I thought in my perfect world, the kitchen, entry way, and living room would have been painting by today. Man I was wrong. Even with 4 hard working college students, we didn't get that far. As of now, the living room is in need of another coat of paint. The kitchen walls are textured and primed. The entry way is in the process of having the wall paper all off. One wall is painted in the entry way and one wall is not. The wall paper in the bathrooms are down thanks to Brandon and Sarah. The living room got painted thanks to Brandon, Sarah, and Rachel. And the cabinets got scrub thanks to Bear and Sarah. The kitchen got textured and primer thanks to me. It really has been a long weekend. Every time before I leave I think to take pictures and then I never do. Sorry. My plan is tomorrow after I get out of class at 5pm is to get at least one coat of paint on the kitchen.
Chad is still at camp in the mountains where the weather is nice. When we talk he wants to know what has been done and how it is going. I keep telling him he better be amazed or at least fake it when he sees the house. I try to explain the colors and he just says, "I trust you and I'm ready to see it and help." He really is excited about getting home and seeing our house.
I never thought I would be the type of girl that needed the approval of others. But doing this house stuff, I feel like I can't make a decision without someone saying yes or no. I have asked many people for help and their opinions. Every time I ask someone what they think I can hear Chad saying, "I trust you." Never did I think that in my life that I would be doing this while my husband is 6 hours away. I'm making the decisions and hoping that he likes it all. That's a scary thing to do.
Tonight when I was eating dinner with the Boyt's, Eric and Val told kept reminding me that it doesn't all have to be done RIGHT NOW. I just got in my head that I have to do this and I have to do it now. But, a house is a process. It takes time and even years. In the long run though it is worth it. This weekend, without wanting to I have learned patience in a whole new meaning!
Maybe tomorrow I'll take pictures. At least I hope I remember this time! Maybe someone should remind me!
Until next time....
